Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day in Hawaiʻi for 2022

This Valentine’s Day, celebrate in the land of Aloha. As February 14 draws near with flowers, chocolates, and greeting cards in tow, lock down your plans for the “day of love” with an unforgettable outing. From chocolate tasting at a local cacao farm to visiting your favorite film sets on the island, show extra love to your special someone with these unique things to do on Valentine’s Day in Hawaiʻi.

Although we strive to provide the most current information, attractions and activities mentioned may close or be suspended at any time. We recommend checking City and County of Honolulu or State of Hawai‘i mandates and individual websites for operating hours, updates, and social distancing measures before visiting.

Attend a Chocolate Tasting at a Cacao Farm

Celebrate Valentine’s Day a few days early at 21 Degrees Estate Cacao Farm. The family-operated boutique cacao farm in Kahalu’u is hosting a guided chocolate tour on February 12 beginning at 10:30 a.m. The tour includes time with their adorable farm animals, sampling of seasonal fresh fruit, and the story of the estate’s vision for sustainable agriculture. Afterwards, partake in a chocolate tasting experience and sample chocolates grown on “the most charming cacao farm in America” as well as other Hawaiʻi-grown-and-made samples that highlight the distinctive flavors of craft chocolate.

The cacao farm is also hosting a Valentine’s High Tea on Saturday, Feb. 5 from 4 - 6 p.m. This event is perfect for friends looking to flaunt their best tea party hat and enjoy an afternoon outdoors with the farm’s tea sommelier and chef-prepared tea sandwiches, scones, and pastries. Book ahead.

Brunch with Longboard Club

Longboard Club at ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach is throwing a special ‘Galentine’s Day’ iteration of their popular Sunday Club brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb 13. The brunch features a menu by Executive Chef Alexandre Petard, bottle specials, bubbles, and beats by Big Wave Surf Champion, DJ KK. Find Longboard Club on the 5th Floor of Seascape Tower. Reservations are recommended. Check out O Bar at ‘Alohilani Resort as well, the chic lounge and bar is hosting a special Valentine’s Day dinner the weekend leading up to the big day.

Enjoy a Romantic Dinner in the “Heart of Waikiki”

Make your Valentine’s Day dinner all the more meaningful and find a spot that reflects you and your partner’s personality. Dubbed the “heart of Waikiki”, Kalakaua Avenue is home to some of the most illustrious eateries in all of Oʻahu. Book a table for two high above the avenue at Tiki’s Grill & Bar within Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel. The Pacific-Rim cuisine restaurant is hosting a special Valentine’s Day four-course meal created by Executive Chef Ronnie Nasuti which includes delectable plates like Heart-Shaped Island-Grown Watermelon Salad, Kahuku Corn Pudding with butter poached bay scallops, Petite Filet Mignon and Tristan Lobster Tail, and Warm Chocolate Divine Cake. Your multi-course meal is further enhanced by a glass of Bubbly and a long-stemmed rose, three hours of free valet parking, and preferred seating outside on the bar lanai and open-air patio. Book your dinner reservation ahead. View more of Honolulu’s special Valentine’s Day menus here.

Be Adventurous

Defy the holiday’s typical stereotypes and opt for something active instead. Hop on a high speed catamaran for a sunset dinner sail and enjoy tropical cocktails, an island-style buffet, and spectacular views of Honolulu, Waikiki, and Diamond Head from the water as you watch the sun sink into the Pacific. Other options for the adventurous couple include a snorkel or surf day at Waikiki Beach, ridgeline hike, skydiving, jet ski rentals, or zipline through the rainforest. For more activities guaranteed to get those endorphins flowing, visit Oʻahu Adventures for the Thrill-Seeking Traveler.

Bring Your Love of the Movies to Life

Let your favorite films inspire your love life. Oʻahu’s lush rainforests and beaches have been used as filming locations for dozens of Hollywood blockbusters. Romantic comedies like 50 First Dates and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and action flicks like Hunger Games, Jurassic Park, and Pirates of the Caribbean, have all filmed on the island - and the locations are accessible!
