Leo’s Taverna (Greek)

The family-owned restaurant has been slinging authentic Greek and Mediterranean plates for over two decades. Visit their casual Waikiki location for marinated beef and lamb gyros, roasted rotisserie chicken, falafel, spanakopita, baklava, and more. 2239 Waikolu Way

Castro's (Cuban)

In Cuban culture, food is at the center of many celebrations and everyday life - which may be why Castro’s fits in so well here in Waikiki! Alongside a full espresso bar, Chef Luis Castro serves up flavorful dishes like Cuban sandwiches, ropa vieja, tamales, and pan con lechón. Castro’s bright and airy dining room is complete with high ceilings, wooden beams, and pops of color and natural furnishings. 2113 Kalakaua Ave.

Mami's Empanadas (Colombian)

The empanada food truck crafts a rotating menu of housemade savory pastries filled with authentic stuffings like Colombian-style beef and potato, shredded chicken with sofrito, black beans, and mozzarella cheese. 2525 Cartwright Rd.

Rick’s Jerk Express (Jamaican)

This hidden gem is one of Waikiki’s finest. With a blend of herbs, spices, and hot peppers, Jamaican jerk seasoning is front-and-center at Rick’s Jerk Express. Try their hot, spicy jerk pork belly, chicken, or shrimp sliders, sandwiches, wraps, or bowls alongside farm-to-table vegetables, coconut rice, and Jamaican escovitch. 415 Lewers St.

natuRe Waikiki (French)

Using locally sourced, sustainable ingredients, natuRe applies classic French culinary techniques to their dishes while also incorporating the flavors of Hawai‘i. Chef Nae Ogawa’s à la carte options include Mahiki Ranch beef tartare, organic chicken liver mousse, and Molokaʻi venison bolognese rigatoni. While French cuisine tends to be meat-centric, natuRe breaks the mold by providing a delicious plant-based six-course meal in addition to their regular signature tasting menu. 413 Seaside Ave.

Morimoto Asia (Asian)

Iron Chef Masaharu Mormoto’s dinner-only culinary destination features Pan-Asian cuisine with an emphasis on China, Korea, Japan, and Thailand. Standout menu items include sticky ribs (pictured above) kung pao cauliflower, Chinese dim sum, roast duck, and lobster tails in a Thai red curry sauce. Find Morimoto Asia within the ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach. 2490 Kalakaua Ave.

Mayita's Grill (Mexican)

Just across the Ala Wai Canal in Ala Moana, the tiny food truck that is Mayita’s Grill is the place to go for authentic Mexican food. The family-owned business has been in operation since the 70s and their tried-and-true recipes have been passed down for generations. Mayita’s simple menu features fresh and flavorful tacos (in carnitas, chicken, birria, and carne asada), burritos, quesadillas, and build-your-own tostadas. 433 - 439 Atkinson Dr.

Taormina Sicilian Cuisine (Italian)

Taormina specializes in Southern Sicily cuisine and is inspired by the authentic flavors of the small seaside village of the same name. Executive Chef Hiro Mimura’s Sicilian-style pastas, high quality seafood and meat, and fresh vegetables compliment Taormina’s impressive wine list of over 125 varieties selected by Master Sommelier Roberto Viernes. 227 Lewers St.

Spice Up, House of Indian Cuisine (Indian)

The Indian restaurant is actually in Ala Moana, but the frequent line of patrons extending from their door shows that Spice Up is worth waiting for. Indulge in robust and flavorful dishes like mahi mahi curry, butter chicken, shrimp vindaloo, and tandoor salmon. 1289 S King St.

Siam Square (Thai)

Siam Square does authentic Thai food exceptionally, with perfectly spiced dishes that are packed with flavor. Try the green Thai shrimp curry, basil fried rice, sweet and sour fish, and the stuffed chicken wings. 408 Lewers St.
